If Guy Fawkes got ATEX approval…

Round about this time of year our thoughts turn to bonfires, sparklers, rockets and fountains (toffee apples also spring to mind, but that’s another matter…)

But taking all risks into consideration when entering dangerous or hazardous environments is absolutely not out of the question – especially when using electronic equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

In the workplace these can be caused by flammable gases, mists or vapours or by combustible dusts – such as flour mills – but ATEX approved devices mean that they are safe to use in such places.

The ATEX Equipment Directive is an internationally recognised standard that covers electrical and mechanical equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres within the EU, and you can see some that we make here.

So – be sure your device is ATEX approved.
